Put the two semicircular straps together and they become a screw thread - strap tightens up like a tourniquet :thumbs: An idea of the size would be useful.

Ah, right, gottit.
I can see a lot of use for these in aircraft building where the shapes are primarily cylindrical, but perhaps less here. Unless the clamps are heat proof, in which case they'd be very useful for helping roll boilers or for holding roofs on diesels.

To Insulate them for soldering buy a sheet of Teflon coated Baking material cut it into a strip and wrap it around the boiler or tube you want to solder and you are sorted move the clamps along as you tack solder the tube then remove them and filly solder the tube .

You can fit a 4" tube in the loop.

1" they are quite versatile.

The loop is flexible but it it will always try to form a circle.
