Likewise I do hope this range of components continues to be made available. I was ordering parts from Shedmaster before Laurie took the business over and I have continued to order bits and pieces from LG Miniatures.

I think I'd struggle source these sort of parts from anywhere else.

I can only pass comment on the shift in people's purchase habits. O gauge there is a shift from kits/scratch building to RTR. Em/p4 it's the other way, as it costs much more to buy and re gauge some RTR stock as it would cost to buy a kit and build it.
5 years all our kit sales were 7mm. Now we sell more S(1:64) and G1 than 7mm with Em/P4 sales making the backbone of the business. If it would cost to much to change scales or it's deamed to much work for someone who is looking to retire then trying to sell the business may be the only option they can see as a way forward.

I can't comment on any of the smaller scales but in 7mm there seems to be those who are happy to play with what ever is thrown at them in the RTR market whilst others pursue a particular railway company and build or have built the specific stock they need which will not be found or probably never will be produced by rtr companies, some of whom have only heard of the GWR or BR diesel era.

Laurie Griffin has been supply castings etc. for decades and I can imagine that he wants to retire and good luck to him, we just hope that some one else takes the company on, there is still a lot of us out here that want to build models and don't want to un pack a box containing a jelly mould model from China, I did that in the 60's with Triang and like to feel I've progressed since then ! :D
