Brian, believe it or not it was remarkably easy! I did solder the strip in place before attaching the tank to the footplate, I think trying to add the strip with the tank in place would be more difficult.Phew! I can imagine the trouble I would get into by attempting similar.
While cutting a 0.5mm wide strip from 0.003" brass might be straight forward enough using scissors (?) and steady hands, getting it soldered neatly along the base of the tank, and then making the joint of tank to the footplate, would likely have me in a mess.
