Staying determinedly off-topic, but still on Aylesbury station, if you visit at the right time of year you can see things like

and this :-

lurking in the station . . .

It is the Rail Head Treatment Train, grandly spreading sandite wherever it goes

...mostly over the rear cab of the loco, by the look of it... :D
Yeah, it impresses the hell out of me.
The whole train is just three sixty-foot spine wagons and two Class 66 locos . . .

The story that I heard was that the train MUST move at more than 60mph, otherwise the jet of spray damages the tops of the rails. I think the thing moves through an orange fog of it's own making . . .  :D

errrrr No:confused: . I drove that train last year on the DC lines out of Euston to Watford:headbang: . Max speed was 40mph jet blasting all the way. They must switch it off when the train comes to a stand or it will cut the track:thumbs: .
will try and find the photo's.

Getting back on topic Railex is just over a week away, I hope that we can see as many of you as possible over the weekend, I think this year has the best layouts I have ever brought together i hope you will agree.

Oh a big thank you to Ian (Railwaymanic) who makes sure everyone knows what they are doing over the weekend

As well as all the impressive 7mm stuff there are three 2mm finescale layouts - a rarity in itself. The hugely impressive Fencehouses is there which has featured in recent MRJs, the beautiful St Ruth (Penzance c.1970 in all but name) and my own little Tucking Mill - both the latter two are booked for future MRJs.

I'm hoping to spend some time in front of the 2mm finescale layouts. I was impressed with Fencehouses when I saw it in MRJ, and delighted to find it was at Aylesbury. If I manage to find some time, my LarkRail challenge was going to be a 2mm finescale loco from a Nigel Hunt kit.

So what is the reason for the electrical(?) connections between the wagons (?) and the Cl.66?

Its the loco's Multiple Working cable. Both engines were running for ease of changing ends/reverse moves.

And please don't try an upset me by all of you saying 'yes'!

I *know* most of you have been to RAILEX...
There are those who have been, those who are going and then there are those who are yet to take the plunge... so "yes" there are some who have not been.

Of course every show is different so the photos are going to be of interest to those who, like Grand Old Duke of York, have been to some (up) and not been to others (down).

I remember (nine years ago) when I put together the first show at the stadium, that I would put on a show that I would like to go to as a punter with finescale layouts and plenty of finescale traders, with a nod towards the MRJ show in 1990, I remember a few people said why do we need yet another model railway show and it took a few years to convince traders like AlanGibson to attend, but I think I pulled it off. I also had a few comments after the first year when people said that was a good show but can you keep the standard up each year. I think I will leave it up to other to answer that one, but I really couldn't do it without the help of the R&DMRC who seem to trust what I do.
Any way hope to see a few faces on the 25th & 26th May

It's always a cracking show and I try to go every year, but am really gutted I can't make it this year, especially with Heyside and Bucks Hill attending.

I have a commitment I can't get out of on the Saturday, and I've been told in no uncertain terms that I'm not to slope off early to Aylesbury the day after the wedding!

On the assumption that it's your wedding, congratulations and I hope it all goes well for you both!
