A couple of snaps of John Greenwood's 2mm Wadebridge which will be making its national debut at this years Railex - still far from finished but a tour de force of great modelling none the less.

This to me is worth a visit to the show alone....cant wait to have a look

Wow! What an excellent show!

We were there from about 11, left around 1, and I don't think I saw everything I wanted to see. Most of the layouts I couldn't even get to because it was usually about three deep all the time!

The quality of the exhibits was excellent. Well done to the organising team!

The list of exhibits always frustrates me! Every year it the nearest weekend of our wedding anniversary :(

That's bad planning James! I'm in the same boat though - my wedding anniversary is today. You should do what we do, go away and make a weekend of it, while TCMP* was being pampered in a spa, I was at Railex :D

A really terrific show.

First time I'd seen Dewsbury Midland in the flesh, it fully lived up to my expectations and I found myself going back to it time and again, awe inspiring and wonderful atmosphere and modelling. John Greenwood's Wadebridge is just wonderful, and it's not even finished. A great sense of time and place, exquisite modelling and unbelievably good running, again I returned to it several times through the day.

Bath Green Park is epic, and for the first time that I have seen was being operated pretty well.

There wasn't a bad layout there, and loads of people to talk to - a show I will remember I think!

Thank you very much to David and all of the organisers and helpers, I don't think shows get much better than this one.

It's not impossible - we did have a weekend away last year for our anniversary in Cumbria which involved the R&ER for a good chunk of it, so I shouldn't complain too much! So, maybe another year?

Thanks to all who organised Railex. As has already been said, not a bad layout there although the running on a couple could have been better. However, that may be because they had not travelled well; I fully appreciate that setting up after the layout has been jiggled around in a van for a few hours can be a trial.

My friend and I were there for best part of the day. Hoped to see a bit more 7mm but were in no way disappointed by what was there. Sorry not to meet up with WT'ers but we were engrossed all the time we were there.

Highlights for me? Wadebridge and Vale of Oxbury - as someone who thinks of 2mm as "fally-offy layouts which don't run" they were a real eve opener and yes, I have seen Copenhagen Fields which until now was the exception which proved the rule. Wonderful watchmakers' attention to detail and locos which ran faultlessly. Also Tower Pier - most atmospheric. Then what about "Earl's Court"? Not a layout which inspired me in the slightest on paper with it's five parrallel lines and no turn outs, but it worked so well.

This was my third Railex and I'll be doing all I can not to miss one in the future. Icing on the cake was that we were there by 9.45 and managed to get parked, but I suspect those who arrived later may have found things a bit more difficult.

Railex never disappoints and I can only echo the sentiments already expressed.
No problem parking and no duff layouts at all.
Wadebridge kept drawing me back and I was seriously impressed with Buckminster Ironstone.....ludicrously simple in design but executed with the artistry we have grown to expect from it's creator.
Well done to David and the team for another cracking show.

We had a great weekend at Railex, as usual a superb selection of things to see and tempt the wallet. Wadebridge generated lots of interest despite being far from finished. It performed fantastically well although that is to be expected with John's layouts.
The Saturday night social was as good as ever and culminated with a mandolin jam - I now know three chords!!

Many thanks to David and his team for another superb show - roll on next year.

We were 20% up on the number of visitors this year which maybe caused it to get hot on the Saturday, I would like to thank all the R&DMRC members who make it happen.

We try to make it a friendly show

Hi David

A 20% increase is a great achievement, especially from a high starting point, and is testimony to the efforts you make to put on a quality show.

Well done!

Agreed. I started to attend after Mr Dikitriki told me about it three or four years ago, and I thought "well, if it's worth Richard driving up from deepest Shropshire it's worth me driving ten miles". I'm glad I did. Since then I've encouraged the attendance of at least two more people so I'm not really surprised to learn that numbers continue to climb, and judging by the quality of the layouts this year there's no reason to doubt it's continuing success. Well done David and R & DMRC for putting on such a first class and, as you say, friendly show. It is an inspiration.

I didn't see you this year, though, Richard. (Not that I saw anyone else I recognised either, not even from my own club although I know they were there somewhere).

If you are only 10 miles away, you could always pop down the club and join, and get in for free next year.

Ian G

Thanks for the invitation, Ian, but I'm a member of Three Counties MRS. If I joined another club I'd never get any modelling done at all!
