Signal now boasts an ex LSWR Finial, I know its wrong but it does set it off as a Light Railway type. It has now been installed on the layout with a bouncing return mechanism, really just a simple bell crank arrangement with a suitable weight fitted to one arm of the crank. I have also almost completed an ex Brecon and Merthyr 4 wheel coach, so that the Earls carnival day special will at least now have two 4 wheel coaches and a Brake Van. Photos to follow. ;D

Spinners End will be at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition to be held at the National Exhibition Centre on the 24th and 25th November 2012.

What can you say about grandchildren, today they have been naming buildings and people on the layout. As the layout is Spinners End, it now boasts S Snape's Patent Medicines, Weasleys Corn and Seeds and Harry the porter, what can I say?
Love them to bits

Well some photos of the layout with the fiddle yard in place and the front panel down. Now I can get on with the scenic work and fine detailing. You can just see the Daily Prophet being read by the seated passenger, along with Snapes, Weasleys and Harry the Porter -often cloaked in secrecy.

Started a simple scene blocker "Cedris Hollowware" ply carcase with plasticard overlay still loads to do , but have tried it in place on the layout

My thoughts have turned to lighting the layout, it needed to be lightweight easily fitted and transportable. So as I had plastic tube, bits of ply, washers and brass rod I've come up with this. This will fit into a socket on the end of the layout and a similar unit only with two lights will fit on the fiddle yard end providing light for the layout and fiddle yard. I have hopefully made the lighting head resemble a railway lamp so that its not just a spotlight on a pole. It still needs sanding and painting but the photo's should give you an idea of what it will look like.

Will it pass P.A.T inspections? Well it should do, it's fully insulated, earthed, protected by a 3amp fuse and utilises fittings that passed inspection by the NEC on previous layouts.

Long time since I posted anything in this thread although the layout has featured in the Gazette and at Shepshed. Everything is ready for Warley including a removable shelf diorama that sits in front of the coal siding.
