A tip for when you're running trains up there Ross.... make a cover to go over the loft hatch ;) we don't want any unexpected descents back downstairs - either trains or operators
I recently put some raised flooring in out loft as we have had some free insulation put in, and when I did one side I put the hatch back down so I could kneel on it... great except when I wanted to get out!! Luckily I had my drill and some screws handy so I put a screw into the back of the hatch so I could get out!!
If you do make a cover remember some way of getting it back out of the hole from the loft!

Reminds me of a bloke at work who spent all day building a lovely fence round his garden & had to cut a hole in it so he could get out:D

Hi.. managed to lay about 2/3 of the flooring over the last week.. It went down really well used 2 1/2 " decking screws (green ones) I've also glued all the tongue and groove joints too.. Had to have a ceremonial 1st train albeit a G scale Thomas with Annie and Clarabel on a small oval of track..
Happy Days..

Hi everyone, have put the battens up in the apex of the roof today, (with a little helper too) they were each 4' long.. I put the 2 outer and centre ones in all 94 and a quarter inch from the floor, no particular reason for this measurement its just how the 1st one went in place. I then strung a plumb line between all 3 secrured with drawing pins. . Need to do some 1.5mm cable runs for the lights then ill be putting some insulation up..
