Scenery & Dioramas

Invited to provide a demo at the Warley Model Railway Show in November 2023, Paul Bambrick came up with the idea to create a 4mm scale diorama with its focus being the use of forced perspective in scenic railway modelling.
He produced the wonderful theatre type display case, contoured the landscape and made all the buildings. He left me to undertake the rest of the scenic dressing and this is the result.
Beautifully photographed by Chris Nevard/Model Rail Magazine
It is now for sale.

The Bourne End (7mm scale) project came to an end in August.
In truth, much more detailing could’ve been undertaken (but that’s me) however the client was happy to call a stop and say it was now finished.
Some of the last scenic details and work I undertook;
Back yard of the green grocers
Yard of the joinery company
The famous (infamous) horse that caught fire
Finally a few figures on the platformsIMG_8362.jpegIMG_8364.jpegIMG_8363.jpegIMG_9002.jpegIMG_8851.jpeg

....the horse that caught fire?

Now come on - you can't I'll just leave that here without further elucidation!

The tale is that occasionally loco crews would throw out their fires at the end of Jackson’s Sidings at Bourne End.
On one occasion, a horse (this horse?) that was working the sidings, decided to roll in the hot ash and clinker recently thrown out and its coat caught fire!
We’ve no further information, and I don’t know what happened to the horse thereafter…
