We have a limited supply of etched brass 4mm components for L&Y wagons. These are to provide sprung compensation and/or double hanger brake gear for the 10'6 wheelbase wagons. The springing units can also be used independently for any wagon and have the curved retaining plate on the axle guard.

Available from the SWW Store

Very impressed by my first purchase, the HR open. I shall certainly be back for more. A quality product and easy to assemble. I did it during odd minutes, but I think anyone with any concentration could have completed the kit in a morning.

Cupboard door wagons, though rare, were not unknown in England. I have found one in Sherwood (Mansfield) livery in the well-known multi-volume series. Not quite sure as to the exact type though.

HR Brake Van Kit

Ahead of the Cupar exhibition this weekend we have been preparing some new kits. Because of a layout commitment to this show we have had to re-order our planned sequence of kits, so the next vehicle joining the range will be the HR Drummond 4 wheel brake van. The kit will be considerably more involved than our current models but we think it will produce a very nice model. They are still a little way off as we need to make some alterations from the test prints, but we hope to have a launch date shortly. The transfer sheets to support the kit will also be available.

These are some images of the test prints.

We recently informed our subscribers of some exiting developments at Scottish Wagon Works, including a new member of the team. This is allowing us to widen our range of wagons and to develop some new projects. Info on the website. The big news regarding project is our first venture into carriage modelling.

We are still a little bit away but are hoping to get our first test prints later this month.

That coach render looks wonderful, but I confess to not having a clue about what it is (other than possibly being Scottish? :)) ).
What is its origin please?

Thanks John - I couldn't find it on your website, no idea how I missed it now!
Good luck with this range.
I wonder how a few might have found their way to East Anglia for a second life......

Sadly none that I'm aware of .... Most of the second hand stock on light railways in east Anglia came from the GER or other London suburban railways which became surpluss as those lines electrified.

However those GNoSR coaches did end up on the South Shields, Marsden and Whitburn Colliery Railway.... Ooo now there's a thought!

These coaches are our first entirely new design project as part of a developing collaboration. We are at the same time starting to integrate existing designs - the first two being GCR wagons - into our range, to make them available to a wider audience and a number of these new items will be of interest to the GER minded.

Thanks for your interest

John - with the coach, what is your plan to enable people to paint all that lovely interior detail? Separate partition/seat modules?

Thanks -

Nick.

I presume as and when time and resources allow - four and/or six wheel coaches from the other Scottish companies may follow, namely CR, G&SWR, HR and NBR.
Dave the short answer is no. We are not doing this primarily as a commercial venture but to develop stock that we need. Hence the GNoSR and almost certainly some HR coaches will follow.

That said, as we pointed out in our recent update, we are currently merging our range with that of Rob Watkins. That is the source of the GCR wagons and as he already has some GER coaches, these will likely follow as soon as we can integrate the designs. There is a bit of work to be done, but nothing dramatic. (Hence the hint above)

As for the other companies, there needs to be both a demand and suitable information, especially if it is outwith our areas of knowledge. If someone can provide both then anything is possible.

We’ll never say never, they are just not on our agenda.

All the best

Highland and GER are all I need to hear. Both of those are music to my ears!

Its been a busy spell at Scottish Wagon Works and we recently updates our subscribers on progress with three big projects that are ongoing.

I can add a little bit more information.

Our programme is now;
HR Brake Van - Next week - Photos of the kit, write instructions for it, pack and post. We are hopeful of getting the pre-orders out before the end of September.

GCR Wagons - On the Fish Truck, we received more information from the GCR society (much appreciated) and have now have redrawn the brakes and are adding the underside detail, vacuum cylinder etc. This detail is additional and is about to be printed. It has through put us out of sequence so this kit will be another couple of weeks in development.

The dropside wagon - Again we have made changes to the brakes but these are now ready for a final test before a production run. We are looking to have these at the start of October.

These wagons will be available in a limited number batch but there will be plenty notice and details are on the website.

Finally for now - the GNoSR coaches. The first of these and our trials are the Diagram 50 Third Class. This is the result of the second test print and we are rather pleased with it.

D50 2.jpg

We have now moved on to the detail parts and fitting. As these are reasonably common to the other diagrams we won't have to do this stage six times. We are now quite optimistic about getting the D50 out before the end of the year.

Again - details and contact info on the website but I am happy to answer questions here as well.

Regards

John
