Hi Steve.
Sounds like you have a LACK shelf, 190cm x 26cm × 5cm.
This was my first effort using LACK shelving.
The scenic section was 110cm x 26cm.

I built, with the Roding Valley MRG, Westbridge and Watney Street goods on Ikea drawer units years ago. They were 6mm ply and very square and accurate. They made a fantastic base for a layout and were cheap.

Thanks Rob, the 190 cm one is exactly what I have. You've a knack of making them look bigger! I'm finding the 26cm width a bit of a challenge as I was looking for an urban setting with buildings etc but I might just go for a retaining wall.

Hi Steve. Yep. It is a challenge. My approach is to keep buildings low and have just a few of them. Not really an option in an urban setting but it's worked okay in my rural offerings so far.
I've standardised of sorts on the LACK nest of tables which gives a main board of 120cm x 40cm x 5cm. The additional 14cm makes quite a difference.

Rather a lot of limited clearance areas there, that door too opening right onto the track. Has H&S been round to inspect?

This view has got me thinking. 
The whole layout has need of details. This area is just crying out for man made stuff to be lying about ( within reason) but it really does needs a bit of mother nature sticking out here and there. A few ferns on the stone work and a bit of moss, trailing green stuff etc......
