Wow! that last shot reminds me of the rivers edge at Laleham on the river Thames near Staines where I spent a fair bit of time swimming in the mid 50's. Superb modeling Rob.

I was swimming in the same area about 1960 - 62 ish. We lived at Addlestone.

And your spot on, the water is so good,

I have ripped up my Harbour scene this morning, and will start again.

Thank you once again.

The water is very much that of an experiment. I have never attempted to model a water feature before but such is the nature of Project X, one was deemed essential.

The picture that inspired this is as below, by Dr Ian C Allen and depicts the pond at Laxfield with a resident J15 overlooking.




The bare boards looked thus.



Banks created with DAS clay.



Banks painted.




Pond bed painted using a sort of brown green mix. Nothing spectacular just arrived at what looked okay.



Good quality Pva applied. Three ( four ? ) coats which were quite thick. The second did not go well but an uneven surface was arrived at, avoiding any obvious straight lines or circles etc....





Top coat of yacht varnish applied. Quite thick and left in a room, undisturbed for a little over 24hrs...




For a first attempt I'm quite happy with it.

I use a large ( comparatively so) flat, make up brush as it's quite soft and then work quickly as the PVA also works, ahem....... quickly..........

A view or two of the layout in the garden.





I need more reeds and the white residue around their bases is hot glue courtesy of the manufacturers. This will be removed prior to final glueing down.

I've also added a few water lily leaves..

SB, which tree breed from MBR is that one? I went for Beech and Oak in summer plumage. That one looks very different.
