Have you now persuaded your better half, that running the B4 downstairs whilst she is still in bed is a good thing.

Good to see you again at Stafford.

(Finally I seem to be able to post on WT once more. Not a banning or a WT software issue, but something wrong with my PC, which the latest upgrade seems to have resolved.)

Lovely to see you, Richard, both here and at Stafford. Also lovely to meet Dave Hunt. True gentleman.

Yes...B4.....ahem....yes, the Memsahib remains as yet unconvinced that repeatedly tooting the whistle on said B4 at 06.30hrs is a good thing.

Never say never of course...........

I hate to stir the droppings at the bottom of the sheep dip, but have you seen this latest announcement from Minerva?

I know you did say you were very keen to get one.....

7 mm scale naturally.

Bonjour,

Oh yes !

Stumbled across an announcement from Loco Revue a couple of weeks ago.

Looking forward to catching up with Minerva at Uckfield. Or I could nip in as it's 5 minutes from work.

I can see an early crest job being favourable......

Afternoon all,

Well, quite a day as it turns out.

Bleat has departed Chateau Sheep for pastures new and semi retirement.

An approach at the Stafford show from a very nice gentleman has seen Bleat moving to it's spiritual home in Somerset. It wasn't my intention to sell but Tim persuaded me otherwise ( not hard when I thought about it ) and deep down, I knew it was a good thing to do.

Tim also brought with him a rather nice little loco which forms part of the available stud for the Taunton Model Railway Group's Bath Green Park layout. I must say, it looked very much at home plonked on Bleat prior to it's dismantling and subsequent departure.

Nicely constructed, the little S&DJR Sentinel ran very well ( high level gearbox methinks ). A lovely little loco.

I'm pleased to say that whilst not Tim's initial intention, it is possible that Bleat may emerge once more at an exhibition in the future but for now at least, it will be enjoyed at home

It's a cracker, Phil. Lovely model and so S&D.

One of the projects I'm looking to sort over the winter, aside from building the new layout, is a new chassis for the Y10 Sentinel I was all but gifted at Railwells.

Morning all,

With Bleat now under new ownership, space is freed for the redevelopment of the Room of Doom and the subsequent knocking together of the new layout.

However, the urgent matter to attend to is the building of new lights for Ewe as the originals went with Bleat. With two weeks to go before it's appearance at Uckfield, I'd better get a wiggle on.

Over arching this is a major civil engineering project on the home front which entails the removal of a 20m fence, digging out of a variety of well established trees and bushes, excavation of an embankment and the rebuilding of a wooden fence to replace the original..........by the end of October..........

Simply put, it's currently flippin' busy.

Therefore, updates will be sporadic.

Sheepy,

All the best with all that, multiple deadlines could mean that some midnight oil may need burning.

Thanks, Phil.

It is as hectic as anticipated but progress is being made with the garden project.

I also secured new lights for EWE today so will hopefully be putting that together one evening this week. I'm also toying with changing the fiddle yard arrangements.............

Morning all,

Stage one of the revised lighting rig for Ewe has been reached.

The existing 'home' 9mm MDF roof has been utilised to save a couple of modelling vouchers.

Old LEDs have been removed and three new strips fitted, courtesy of our good friends, Screwfix.

They measure 1112mm and all three are linked needing just one mains lead to provide power. All are 'cool white' as I'm not sure the addition of the warm white to the old rig worked particularly well.

Initial measuring up....well, ish.

Wiring needs tidying but first, all will be removed and the inside of the roof lined with lilac mounting card as per the existing backscene and sides.

Some of these LED thingies are dimmable, others not.
Has anyone has experimented with dimming such layout lighting and found it to be advantageous or not?

I have dimmable LED lighting on Bethesda Sidings, can also change the colour balance too, but I find that I don't bother to change the normal setting most of the time...
