7mm The Shed Build, a BR Diesel Depot

On my S7 layout I have intended to have a diesel depot, I started out building a Heljan one, but then I saw this that my friend Phil from Intentio was selling.
So I ordered one earlier this year. It's taken a while to arrive but now I have it and last night John Birch (Oz 7mm) started building it.

Here's a few photos of the finished article that will guide us, as there aren't any instructions at the moment, but we seemed to be able to find our way last night.

I seem to have been given too much credit here. Richard assembled the very fiddly gantries. All in all I didn't contribute that much to what you see.

It will be a very nice addition to the layout.

Work continues on the shed, John has been building the roof. Fortunately it wasn't too difficult to work out how this went together.

The roof has a very gentle angle on it. so 4 formers cut tot he correct angle are supplied and the roof is built on these, you can't see them as they are under the roof. There are 5 longitudinal supports and then the cross supports that make the roof skylights.

I started making up the first of the pits

I also did the first of the louvred windows

And the cross steels

I think we need to start priming everything.

Great start. Definitely paint the main colours as you go. The bricks, red oxide/white as appropriate and grey for pretty much everything else except black for the steels.

Before fitting the overlays to the sides and ends, you may need to fill any holes where the tabs are visible.
