As another year rolls to its close, the good news is planning permission has been granted for the railway room extension. The architect is now drawing up final plans. All very exciting!
I decided to celebrate this mini milestone by starting a construction project of my own, namely two of the remaining buildings for Cheddar.
The first is the market gardener’s cottage on the down side of the line. There is precious little photographic information available about this building but I was kindly sent a fabulous image via a local Facebook page which has helped immensely. Other things have been subject to interpretation but I’m happy with the end result. Wills do a useful kit of miscellaneous outbuildings which have been used and will be used to detail the rest of the plot with a greenhouse, shed and cold frames.
The building itself is a mixture of card, embossed plasticard and Perspex windows.
The other building is the permanent way shed in the up yard. This was of timber construction with what looks like an extension on both the north and south side.
Again photographs are scarce showing the detail. The point being made by me thinking it was clap boarded and starting the model accordingly before I found a better picture confirming it was in fact vertical planking.
Roof has been tiled using York modelmaking self adhesive slates.
Both buildings will be set into the landscape at some point so will be stored away once completed.
