Enjoyable trip to Donny on Saturday, my first Guild show, despite being a member since 2009. Pleasantly surprised that the hall was not overly crowded, I could get to and speak to traders and make purchases as necessary. I hope the hall being not too crowded wasn't reflected in taking for traders.
Met a couple of the guys behind Finney7 (Richard & Mick) & saw the W1 which I have enjoyed following take shape here on WT, looking forward to kits being reintroduced. Good to see instructions are taking their rightful place as being important in a kit.
Tony Geary had the BR standard 4 with him which he rebuilt following an accident by its owner, what a fantastic job Tony did of replacing the smokebox & cab.
The class 47 cab on The JLTRT stand looked very impressive & had more weight than I would have expected, the stand was busy so i didnt get to ask if that was the actual material the loco will be made in or a prototyping material, I am sure the Brush 4 will be a big hit. the D6xx Warship was also on the stand, looked very nice, although not a prototype I am familiar with.
I was very tempted by an Easybuilt Cravens class 105 two car DMU, seeing items in the flesh does make a purchase more likely, but sometimes we just have to think of the pile of boxes already on the shelf waiting their turn, before adding more.
Next time I must take a shopping list as I forgot a few items.
