A Champ! Marvellous!
Oh wow, we had one as the family 'car' for a while when I was 7 or 8.
I don't know whether it was standard but ours had two steering wheels (which, as kids we loved). Thinking about it now, I wonder if it had dual controls. We were all too small to reach pedals so we never looked in the depths of the foot well.

It became the centre of "war games" for a while, even if our guns were more suited to westerns than war stories. Great fun while it lasted. We didn't have it long.

There's not been much progress with my own O gauge' projects recently.

The ex-LMS mineral wagon has had more weathering applied, it now needs numbers before the final weathering. I have two other wagons also requiring numbering.

This is one of the bargain ABS I bought a while back now repainted in BR livery to look recently repainted. Along with my first O gauge wagon which I've never got round to finishing the plan is to number the three of them when we're away in Scotland next week. We're in Port Road territory :)

Enjoy Galloway, not yet spoiled by too many tourists who still race for the Highlands and completly miss out the South West. We go for the peace and quite.
Not much railway left, Stranraer station and harbour is virtually derelict and depressing. Portpatrick is a gem and there is a nice cliff walk along the remains of the branch. If you like small towns with independent shops Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright are well worth a visit.

Wigtown is one town we always visit when we're up this way :) Kirkcudbright is likely on the way back - there's a good record shop there! The plan had been to call there on the way up on Saturday but my leave was declined Thursday so we came straight from work - a twelve hour shift then five hours travelling! But we got here and in the morning greeted with lovely views :)

Yesterday was a trip to the Doon Valley Railway - absolutely fantastic drive there and back along the coast too!

It's a very friendly railway too.

We needed food shopping today and headed for Stranraer, popping in a at the Harbour station. If ever any location was a shadow of its former self then it's Stranraer Harbour.

The box is switched out for the majority of the time, so a look inside wasn't possible.

Even switched out there's a decent selection of mechanical signalling on display.

Portpatrick today and it was absolutely delightful :) a gem as @Ian@StEnochs said.

As you drive in the abutments of the bridge over Main Street on the former harbour branch which is about the most prominent remnant we saw.

IMG-20250808-WA0000.jpg

The harbour branch still sees traffic it seems.

There's also a rather thought provoking memorial to Portpatrick lifeboat crew who fought to save the MV Princess Victoria, a former LMS vessel, in 1953.

Another eBay bargain :)

I've bought a number of of demic wagons for around twenty quid each which seems ridiculously good value. Admittedly they need work but I'm careful not to buy anything which is in need of too much rectification.

Here the BR shoc open was reasonably well built but had a damaged tarpaulin bar but it was easily repaired. The Plastikard is to reinforce things and once the tarpaulin is in place it'll be completely hidden, as will the lead weight.

Not bad for £20.
