Whilst southern region plv/guv wore their green livery , were the body ends painted black or green ?
I dunno about them surviving better Phil, the difference in vents is only because yours is a CCT, not a PMV - there might have been more of the latter but CCTs weren't at all rare in blue. 2492 doesnt appear in my 1970s RCTS books though - is it plywood sided, I cant quite tell from that pic?
Once it has been weathered it wont make much difference whatever colour it is The paintwork looks quite tidy so id leave it.Thanks guys .........I just need to make a decision as to leaving it green (weathered) or a repaint into BR blue
BTW Yes Ian I got it ready built like this, I didn't know then though that the ones like Trevors with one end vent appear to have survived better into the blue era........although Mike told me that 2492 of this diagram was BR blue
S1739 was in blue pictured at Didcot 1979. ( this seems to have un-equal planks towards the top of the body )
S2536S Blue pictured 1974 @ Exeter ( heavily plated over, only doors left wooden)
S2543S Blue pictured 1969 @ Ipswich ( again heavily plated except for the doors)
I don't suppose you have any suitable numbers for blue or green CCT's in the early 70's ?
I'm afraid I've not received it MikeHi Phill,
PM sent
cheers
Mike
If there is a problem let me know and I will look into itI'm afraid I've not received it Mike
Yes I was wondering about that too.........anybody ?Whilst southern region plv/guv wore their green livery , were the body ends painted black or green ?

I could probably ID a suitable batch from a Terry Gough article in a 70s RM, but there are sparkies ripping up the study floor at the mo...
Ian if you could get me some numbers for even planked CCT's that were still running in the 70's when you get a chance it would be much appreciated ...........so far I have only found ones in Departmental use

Nearest I can come up with is a B&W photo in David Larkin's "BR General Parcels Rolling Stock" on page 8, of an even-planked CCT pictured in 1969 numbered S1765S. (I am building a Slater's PMV, as the one pictured above it). This is a little book well worth getting if you don't have it already.
