Well that's what I intend to do with mine, although I may at a later date make another chassis for one of them which would be more suited to radio control.I suppose it is also a neat way to have variety of locomotives in that you can swap bodies quickly and easily (can you?) to change the identity - exit offstage a blue loco, re-enter a green one
You can make the body's quickly detachable by fixing all the lighting to the chassis rather than the body as Heljan do.....I did this with my Hymeks.

Had a good day at Telford (Sunday) and it was good to catch up with those that I did manage to meet.
Rob Pulham, I'm sorry we didn't chat for long I was coming back to see you again but I did not realise that you only had limited time there on Sunday, JB told me you had only called in briefly to collect some castings.
Collected a GER bogie BK third coach kit from D&S for a commission, some drill bits but that was about it for purchases and I did pick up some turning jobs, thank you to those who have commissioned me to do the work

Enjoyed the S7 circuit and I too thought the Yankee based layout was good.

I've only just bothered to read the Guide ( 
) and I love the description the S7 boys have written for their Test Track!! Some real gems of humour in there - my favourite -

Well you wouldn't sell me one of the 47'sGreat day Saturday. Was at the Heljan stand by 9:30 and no amount of banter would get them to part with the very nice class40. So a couple of Heljan 47 bodies would have to do.
After elbowing my way back to the bring and buy, I picked up a Big Big Train set, GW rivet press and narrowly missed out on a couple of mark I coach kits.
Wheels, a brass brake van kit and a few bits and bobs cleaned me out by lunchtime.
The SVR on Sunday was good, but not sure how we missed the 52 light running though ?!

No Problem Colin, at least I got to say hello. If it wasn't for Laurie Griffin not popping some bits in my order I may not have made it at all - and thanks to Richard for confirming that they were indeed missing (showing my ignorance of Joy valve gear components here). I also got to meet Paul Penn-Sayer (locomodels) and Fred Lewis too

So apart from Bargains & Meet-ups, any thoughts on the Show itself?
My lad & I liked there being more layouts this year, and yes, I know it's a bit of a cliche, but they all also seemed to have "something moving" on them whenever we looked - I didn't see any where the Operators seemed more interested in chin-wagging than running trains, so thumbs up there.
There seemed to be less Traders this time, and / or some of them had smaller stands, it seemed to me. But it was my impression that unless you looked very hard, or knew where to look (eg Heljan at 9.30am) there were few real bargains to be had. Even with tatty second-hand wagons, there still seems to be an "it's O Scale so it's Expensive" mentality.
Don't even mention the Skytrex stand...!!!

It was a lovely Guide with some good copy written by the contributors. Did anyone notice any typos? I helped proof-read this before print production so would be good to know if I missed any!

Other than Brian Daniels being spelled Bryan, none at all. Great show and thanks to all who made it happen.
Oddly, Jon Denning's American layout Flemingsburg Junction was a favourite of mine too. His previous layout was/is Vine Street which was the layout that convinced me that DCC and sound was the way forward. Jon was also using a wireless Multimaus Pro controller at Guildex which gave him the freedom to walk around the outside of the layout to follow his trains to the fiddleyard when necessary - a feature that several WTers are familiar with.

They are due to 'appear' at our October show in Shepshed on the 12th having booked their stand again after last years event.To date we've had no notification that they won't be coming so can only assume they will. If they didn't shift enough at Telford and are still continuing with the 'fire sale' who's to say that there will not be further 'bargains' at our event (our stand rates are cheaper than Telford
) .......who knows , will have to see if they turn up........

I thought the Skytrex discount of 25% wasn't really worthwhile considering the stuff was about 50% overpriced IMO in the first place
........we did buy a few incomplete items which the staff were allowed to be more flexible on price with though.
As I understood it all remaining stock after the show was being bought by another trader.

As I understood it all items were 25% discount ?
.......I did buy an NMB Southern concrete platelayers hut which was marked up at full price, but the member of staff did deduct 25% discount from the price when I paid

Slightly OT but one thing I did notice on the S7 test track was the foam underlay under the track, very similar to laminate flooring underlay, it was just soft enough to take out and acoustic sound from the baseboard and firm enough to not flex too much when large 'heavy' tank locos (JB's L1!) passed over joints. The reduction in acoustic hollowness and sound damping were impressive and add weigth to my thinking of following suit and also adding the same stuff under the base board to cut down on the famed hollow base board noise.
The flexing looked quite prototypical at rail joints, the real thing moves quite a lot when locos pass over and the flex in the foam should reduce the dreaded wheel bounce from track not laid microscopically level LOL. Whether the track will still flex once it has been ballasted is another matter and the critical bit will be the shoulders which may need some sort of rubber-isd adhesive to still allow a little flex, or if the shoulders are wide enough then the foam under the track may have enough give any way. The S7 track was stuck onto paper which will stop any adhesive permeating into the foam and sticking it all solid.
