Kettering - (roadworks warning) now Post-Show Report!!

Hi all,

this message was posted on the 7mm Yahoo Group and might be worth reading by those intending to attend:

Ladies & Gentlemen

If any of you are going to the show at Kettering next Saturday then please be
aware that the A14 Kettering Bypass is currently subject to serious roadworks
between junctions 7 & 9. You will need to use for junction 8 for access to the
venue.

There are lane closures and contra flow restrictions together with the usual
average speed cameras which are set at 40mph.

You will need to keep an eye out for the correct lane to use to leave the A14.

If you miss the exit you may have some way to go before you can return as there
are some other roadworks around the area which may affect junction access.

There are also roadworks around the M1/M6/A14 junction connected with a major
rebuild of the junction.

What effect these may have on journey times is anyone's guess but I suspect that
the worst time will be Friday evening.

enjoy yourselves when you get there.

Hi Heather,

thanks for the 'like' - only sorry that I cannot be there (again) but it is my middle granddaughter's 13th birthday and must not miss that for the world.

As I said earlier, enjoy yourselves.

cheers

Mike - soon to be back on the modelling train

Thanks for that Mike, I'm heading there Saturday morning so might try and divert round another way.

As I'm trying (& failing) to fight off a cold at the moment I have to be honest & say this news has made my mind up not to bother :(
...also, being paid for avoiding roadworks is one thing, to have to do it on a day off is adding insult to injury.... :D

Have a Good Un, everyone. ;)

Jordan,

That's a shame. I hope you are feeling better by then, but the section of the A14 involved is short and if you get there at opening time there is not much traffic on a Saturday. Its a good show and you really want to go - you do - you know you do!

Yes of course... but I'd have to be so dosed up to make it people might mistake it for something like.. oh I dunno... a hangover??..... :)

... that'd never do, would it? ... or be forgotten... ;) :D

From a study of Bing Maps, I plan to exit the A14 at Junction 10, go through Kettering on the A 6003, and take a left, just past the railway, into Lake Avenue, then left at the roundabout, eventually T junctioning with Thurston Road.

I would welcome comment from anyone with local knowledge.

Thats a long way round Steve, Last time i went through Kettering around that part, there was roadworks in the town. Also the town can get busy on the roads.

I would check before you leave & see what the A14 is like first hand, if it looks busy coming upto jnc 10, then go through the town

Steve

I found out a couple days ago that I'll be home alone that weekend, so instead of fidgeting around on the sofa I'm coming along. Never been to this one before.

I'll be coming up from the M40, A43, around Northampton and rejoining the A43, which plops me out pretty close to the door. I can't see that this route is affected by any roadworks, unless anyone knows different?

We will be going on the M1 to Northampton then A45, A43 to Kettering. Hope to see you all there if we don't get this 8" of snow.:(

Thanks for the info. According to AA traffic there's major roadworks on just about every road between here and Kettering

Don't know if I've missed it elsewhere but are we having the usual chinwag by the test track at 1pm?

Great to meet up again, and to put some more faces to names. I'd have loved to natter longer, but I had also arranged to meet a new client at the same time. More on that another day.
