To add a bit more interest you could always have the remaining foundations of the engine shed and a filled in pit as seen at Westerham.

Decent weather saw me wiring track. Couldn't be simpler, but there was a short somewhere. I dug up a point and laid a different one after testing. Great. Then another short occurred at the crossover. It can only be another dodgy point, so I've locked up for tonight.
It's re-using old points that is proving to be the problem

Embankment contours were drawn on two peices of 4" x 1" planed timber...
The timbers were cut out at an angle as shown and glued in place...
Crumpled newspaper etc was is used to support the Vinyl Grass sheet. It's a darn sight quicker and less messy than in the old days when I used chicken wire, bandages and plaster of Paris....

Vinyl glass was glued to the wooden formers with Evostik Contact glue, pulled forward to the track, marked where to cut with a felt tip and trimmed with scissors...
A wedge of wood was added where the two sheets of Vinyl grass meet. A similar wedge is beside the road bridge.....
Vinyl grass was glued in place along it edges with Evostik and then shaped with a heatgun. Static grass and bushes and fences will hide a multitude of sins. Two hours of work saw it finished this morning. It look okay, but the addition of static grass will make it possible to more closely match the backscene...

Funnily enough, it was closer to the water tower before I started on the scenery. It would only have encouraged the fireman to clean his fire and chuck the contents of the ashpan trackside...

The road outside the gate is painted on. A road widening scheme is planned along with a fence on the other side of the road!
The weighbridge and coal office are against the backscene now instead of behind the bufferstops as on the previous Llanfair. Still lots to do...

A few comparison shots from today. A hedge was painted on the backscene on the other side of the road by the gate. Static grass was completed at this end of the layout today showing how well it matches the backscene...
As before, a Hornby stone wall was but at the back of the goods yard...
Static grass around the cattle dock shows the difference in green. The raised mound on the platform has yet to be tackled

Llanfair has been built so often that I don't have to think.
This small alteration took all day. I decided to make an end-loading platform behind the waiting rooms. A solid block of shaped wood was screwed in position and covered with stone chippings and of course edging slabs.. It will be handy for cars and agricultural equipment etc

Today, I set to work making the land beyond the bufferstops look as if it rises slightly. Then a stone wall was added a couple of inches in front of the fence on the backscene...
The shrubbery behind the wall is only temporary until I find some decent bushes
A match stick was sunk into a hole beside the buffer-stop and spear-fencing added. Sprayed matt black, it was glued into a blob of PVA and static grass added. This part was copied from a colour photo of Llanfyllin...
