Hi Mike, sorry to hear that you are stopping kit building I for one will miss your builds.
I do understand your reasoning however and I hope that you manage to fulfil your modelling wishes in the way that you hope, while looking after the health aspect at the same time.

Hi Rob,

many thanks for your kind wishes. I will, hopefully, be posting progress on the layout, I seem to be ok with PVA glue so as long as I can source suitable materials to use that on, all will be well.

I take it that you will be going to Halifax, perhaps we could arrange a meet?

regards

Mike

Most definitely Mike, and I would like that.
It may have to be earlier in the day than most meet ups, depending on my good lady's health at the time but we can arrange something a bit nearer. I am bringing Severn along for Steph to have a look at.

Sorry to hear that Mike, you have no idea at all what causes the problem ?

Hi Guv,

probably something to do with my big nose! Not exactly, but the glue and flux fumes as I have said before give me flue like symptoms and I just do not want to suffer that any more. As I said earlier, PVA seems to be ok so I'll see how I get on with building buildings, having been a building estimator most of my  working life, it's time to put all of that expertise into practice.

With your permission, I'll post a list of sale items in the members area and anything that
is not sold, will be on the Bring and Buy at Gresford.

regards

Mike

Sorry to hear that Mike, I enjoy watching your builds too  :( , but I do understand your decision. I will look forward to seeing your layout develop though  :D , that's one of the great things about our hobby though.....there are so many aspects to it to keep our interest

All the best

Phill

Hi Phill,

thanks for your support.

I have started to collect the various items together on the bench and it's just like sorting stuff out for an unwanted clear-out and it is quite painful, but as you say, thankfully, there are many aspects to our wonderful hobby and I shall adjust myself to the 'art of building buildings' restricting myself to using PVA type adhesives. Hopefully, once the 'sale' has happened and I can see the wood for the trees as it were, then I will see things in a better light.

cheers

Mike

Hi Rob,

thanks for your comment. I noticed after posting the photos that the number on the left hand side was 'going downhill' towards the front and fortunately, John Peck provides a set of spares with his Precision transfers, so I have made good the error - my eyes must be going as well!!

Hi Steve,

thanks for posting the picture - I had never seen that side before, so my guess for the location of the numbers is WRONG  :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:, but there you go - can't win them all.

cheers

At long last, I managed to get my hands on a brass Bachmann 08 complete with the cab module - this is the early version with the long door hinges. Although the layout is going to be predominantly BLUE ERA I fancied doing this one in Green (and also using it as a 'dummy run' to finishing one for a friend in early Green) and chose D3459 which was delivered new to Hither Green in South London and was the closest shed to home at the time.

The panel adjacent to the cab door is not the largest area to apply transfers - especially the wider digits as I was using, so I have used some modeller's licence and gone for the small D - to give me a bit more space - fortunately, my friend has chosen 13115 which should fit in rather nicely.

It is a very smooth runner and I will be fitting one of the new Loksound V4 chips before too long.
