Whilst searching this thread for more information on the pop-up board which you used for the backscene, as mentioned in the RM article, I discovered that the majority of images up to post 578 (March 2022) have disappeared - I guess this is the result of images shared with RMWeb? :(

Can you provide any more info on the backscene board?

Osgood, sorry I don't know your first name, As it says in the article I used a polyester material that peoplle use in those pull out displays that you see at Exhibitions. It's shiney grey on one side and matt white on the other. I sprayed and painted the matt white side. It came in a roll from a local friendly printer would done work for me when I was designing information panels when I volunteered at the Museum of the Broads.

The roll is at it comes and the piece on the floor is the white side roughly sprayed with grey and white primer. the smaller piece has the gey side showing. I use it when taking photos inside out as it were. I suspect most sign printers would sell you some.

Have you perused Paul Bartlett's website ?

Yes He appears to have photos of the P20 "Starfish" His site was my first port of call. I have now been intouch with SVR and Didcot to see if they have a photo of their p15/18s in BR livery before they both painted then in GWR livery.

There's a P18 in departmental livery in Jim Russels book "A Pictorial Record of G.W. Wagons" but that's the only one I can find.

A look at David Hyde's file reveals the following photographs taken by David.

This is a P17, but shows the same livery I would think, Reading 1965. Script lettering possibly remaining GW or if not GW style?

A reference of numbers.

There is another v poor photocopy of a P 18 in an article, which observes that they also appeared with the funky rather large green triangle that the Southern Region (I think) put on their pw wagons, recorded as black with straw lettering at Ho Jct 1968 DW30924, this also has ED, E bigger than D on the next "panel" along from the Number and load.

Happy for anyone to use these pictures, please credit them to David Hyde if shared.

Ah got it now Alan - pop-up as in pull-up rolls. Thanks.

Sorry, I put name in the small print below to make sure I didn't forget it (not my name, putting it in the post....) but it doesn't show up well.

I wondered what the arrow was pointing to and first thought your name was "post". Mind you I'm reading on an Android phone and didn't see the signature until pressing the "desktop" option. I suspect Alan may also not be seeing signatures.

Evening Pencarrot,

Tony Post pops up if you turn your phone sideways, landscape mode. No need for desktop jobbie. Otherwise I agree, he's hiding in the bottom. Sneaky.

Many Thanks Simon, I've also asked SVR and Didcot if they have any photos of theirs before repainting into GWR mode.

That’s certainly an early BR (Swindon?) renumbering. The photo at Hoo Junction will be a David Larkin picture, and yes, the triangle was a Southern Region thing, mostly applied to their low sided spoil carriers, including hundreds of ex-traffic Medfits.
