I was thinking of something quite generic so that combined with plain brick work most modellers would be able to make a bespoke item. So over bridge, viaduct or just arches, even with businesses beneath can be created.

Just needs to be double track width.

Here's a link to the sort of thing. http://www.daveh.org.uk/hwyard/arches/#4

I quite fancy some filled in arches (filled with brick or stone and set back slightly) as the back scene for my diorama board.

As a follow up to last nights shots here is second base, the mortar is too light, but hopefully a couple of washes will sort that., and the brickwork needs dry brushing with some other colours, but Im happy with this condition as 25 year old brickwork. You will notice that they are slightly rounded and there is a hint of irregularityIMG_4715.JPG

Next up a test for the shed, same comments about colour and mortar. the brick condition is supposed to be about 80 years old, it may need a little more distressing, possibly a little more random noise added, and there are a couple of areas on the bump maping that need attention to the left of the door with the banana shaped bricks:eek:

Finally the small sample of old Flemish bond. I havent any use for this yet, but the idea is to suggest rough handmade brickwork, the sample came from a wall down the road :)

If I hadn't seen the back ground I wouldn't have been able to tell if that first shot wasn't a real wall and door -I am struggling for superlatives that do it justice.:bowdown:

There are some plain 7mm samples in with your bits :) I think I now have two viable methods of making brickwork each with its own advantages.

Cheers Cynric,
I was thinking of the bricked in arches this morning and would 'normal' arches with a sheet of plain brick work stuck on behind be the simplest way?

Yes probably! It depends on the arch, it will also need something for the parapet and buttresses, not particularly difficult as it is just a question of building up layers. I just need a good 'straight on' view.

I did a commission a couple of years ago using the MMP arches and I have found some left overs so ill work something up based on them and that will give a few options for occupied and unoccupied arches. I have a few jobs on at the moment so it will be a couple of weeks unless I get distracted:)
