The English seem to think North Wales is wet all the time. It's even mentioned on some railway videos. Well, I for one would'nt live here if it was like that. I'd had enough of the wet stuff while growing up in Oldham!

I can't remember when we last saw rain on the coast. In fact the heat hasn't half buggered up sleep. We're up country several days a week and the landscape resembles the wild west. When filming in 1996, Tanygrisua Lake was low enough to see the original FR formation.

I grew up on the Wirral and had many happy days, holidays, on the North Wales coast, and continued to visit frequently until I moved down south, and I went rain or shine, it d oesnt matter much if you’re Scuba diving!

My daughter lives in Manchester, and I point out to her too, “that’s where it always rains”. She spends her weekends climbing, in North Wales, rain or shine…

(I have to say, what passed for grass in our garden on the Kent coast is now parched earth. I’m sure it'll regrow, eventually…)

Ah the beer train of blessed memory! On occasion I was rostered to fire it and I remember that if there was a particularly good party going on they would have a whip round for the crew, payable only if we didn’t get back to Port after a certain time!

As for weather, it seems to rain in North Wales a lot less than it used to, although the memsahib and I are going up tomorrow for a couple of weeks and next week is looking potentially quite wet.

According to my in-laws who live in Tywyn, the last rain fell for about an hour on June 30th having been dry for a period before then too. I remember it as I got wet driving Dolgoch back down the valley and is the last rain I saw too! Hopefully, the forecast for rain this weekend proves true.

As for wet trains, some volunteers from the Talyllyn used to go up for those when Gwynedd was dry on Sundays. They also drove over to Machynlleth, just over the county border in the other direction to get a pint or two.
