Hi Phill

Yes, you did. It doesn't look out of place, runs very nicely, and once it's had the treatment, it will be a very nice vehicle.

B1s and Brits were often to be found on the parcels around Oldham. I think the Heyside group will be able to muster 5 B1s and 3 Brits between us which is a little overkill!

Great Stuff Richard, I really like the videos, especially the drain taps being openned on the 8f. I don't know a great deal about sound chips for steam but they have seem to come on a lot from the first incarnations. It used to be running with Portescaps and as quiet as possible, how things have changed. Are the chips class specific or is it a case of three/two cylinders etc ??

Excellent Richard, I can't stand at an exhibition and watch a layout that does not have sound anymore, don't get me wrong for I'll look and appreciate the workmanship that goes into a good layout regardless as to wether there is sound or not but this is what will give the added realism and atmosphere. Oh and I forgot, some realistic operation:thumbs:

Hi Richard,

That 8f sequence of coasting up to the signal and then gently taking up the slack and pulling away again, what can I say :bowdown::thumbs: .

One more for realistic operation... the 8f was faultless... my regards to the driver..

What sound chip and do you have in there, and is it the standard sounds and sequence on the chip ?

Built that 8'6" bogie yet ??!

Hi Richard,
Love the pictures and videos you've posted, although I've just been told by SWMBO to turn the sound off:headbang:

Hi

Work proceeds at a snail's pace on the point rodding....lots of calculations, bits of paper all over the places, pulls to pushes, clevises to cranks (that's us) to compensators. I dunno, it wasn't so difficult with Nellie running round the carpet and Dad looked for the point spring....

Anyway, I had to take some photos of the signals for the L&YR Society, so I thought I would post them here to to show some of the progress. The painted ones are the work of Clive Neale, the gantry is mine (which is why it isn't finished yet:))

It is quite humbling to be able to see what will undoubtedly become an Award-winning Layout being constructed before our eyes....

I like the second pic down, of the "Double Home Starters" or whatever they are (displays utter & total ignorance of UK signalling practice  )... not just for the attention to detail on the signal, but for the standard of colouring and finish of the trackbed. I also have a very sneaky suspicion that we are looking at a baseboard join there too, but it's very hard to tell.....

Thanks Jordan for your kind words.

You are right, there is a baseboard join near the signal.

A shot I hadn't used previously entitled 'Grubby Days' shows the join. Though I have to say, if you are resorting to 'spot the join' for criticism, we must be doing something right!

It helps, actually, that we have 'jigsawed' all the joins bar one, and we are looking at that one now.

That 4F looks absolutely spot on just as I remember them. I just hope mine gets somewhere near to that finish when I get round to doing it, have had the kit for about 3 years, about time I started it.

Fantastic job on the signals fellas, I particularly like the one attached to the wall and the effects of weathered timber. And who cares about the baseboard joints, I bet when viewed as a whole you don't even notice such things:thumbs:

Hi

Evening Parcels (2)

I'm now able to present this picture as I wanted to originally, but didn't have the skills to do. Allan has added the sky and removed all my nice oak beams which has enabled me to frame the picture with the bridge and include all of the signal.

It's the first photo that I think of as presenting a finished image.

Work is continuing on the point rodding and there should be some pictures later this week - and I'm still trying to tidy my workbench.

Cheers
