This photograph crosses the divide between model and prototype.... how about some platform clutter to give a "lived-in" impression?

Richard, I hope that you will take this comment in the spirit of admiration for the work on Heyside and recognition of how close the appearance is to reality.... the drive pin for the stretcher....

best wishes, Graham

The thing that says it all for me (apart from the actual railway stuff) is the background above the houses and behind the signals especially, it looks a typical Lancashire/Yorkshire sky full of evil weather.

Hi

Wednesday is Heyside day, and we had the brains trust consider point rodding today. We spent a full day, 4 of us, working out what we needed, rodding runs, even whether the boxes were the right size. We always thought that 2 boxes of the size we had was too much. Not so. They are just right. So now we know what levers we need and can colour and number them correctly. We will do the right hand size box first, some 40 levers, as it is fortunately on one board. On Saturday, the PW staff take full occupation. It's quite exciting really to be getting on with some detailed work, having spent almost 3 years on the infrastructure.

Naturally, I had my camera out and there are 2 new cops for you, a Stanier tank on the local, and a saddle tank outside the box. I just caught the saddle tank before the DMU muscled in.........

Fantastic pictures, they are so full of atmosphere and the Stanier on the local blends in so well.

I shouldn't think the PW guys are looking forward to a weekends work at Heyside, what with the promise of snow and no sign of a bothy in sight . Mind you rumour has it that the signalman has taken pity, and a tea urn has been installed at his signal box for the lads ;).

Hi Martyn

Not mine, though I am getting it through my workshop in the next few weeks, so I can have a closer look then. There is insufficient sideplay on what is quite a long wheelbase, so it can't actually get out of the yard!

I think it's just a sprayed weathered finish, but slightly glossy. It fits in well with the rest of the locos.

Cheers

Hi

Fowler 2-6-4 on a Rochdale bound local. This is a genuine Oldham Loop loco.

The reason the photos are being drip fed is that I am preparing them (photoshopping out clutter) in work breaks. .......And it's taking a lot longer than I thought!
