Today we had to say goodbye to John Bailey, his funeral was today. I don't know how well John was known here, but his generosity is spread across the model railway world. Heyside is no exception, the control circuits for the storage yard were designed by John. He was a talented and clever guy.
A great loss to his family as well as the model railway community.

So lets remember John and his work lives on in Heyside.

Hi,

Running session tonight. I managed to get my Scot chipped this afternoon, so it was nice to see that running again (first time for 4 years or so), even if completion is still a while away. Andy brought his Schools along to stretch its legs, and mighty fine it looked too.

Hi Richard,

great to see that you are running the good stuff these days, though the tender looks a bit low on coal.

cheers

The Hymek sounds great, what decoder are you using?

Hi Jon,

I'll have to wait for Dr.Tim to come along to answer that one. It may be a sound project that is not yet commercially available; it will be a Zimo chip. It's not my loco so I have lost track of what's in it. Come to think of it, I'm not really sure why I've still got possession of it.

Congratulations on the "team appearance" in the latest MRJ:thumbs:

Simon

Hi Simon,

I've not seen the MRJ yet, as I pick up my copies at shows. Are you now doing the subscription copies?

Hi Jon

The decoder is a Zimo MX-695KV, and the sound project is commercially available from Digitrains, here:

I covered the installation briefly, here.

The Cliff Williams speaker has a lot to do with the sound quality - not cheap, but very good

Richard/Tim thanks for the info, I should have guessed it was one of Paul Chetter's projects - he does seem to get marvellous results from Zimo chips. It was watching a CL37 demo of his on youtube that got me interested in modelling again after a 30yr break :) I particularly like the small dabs of braking as it crawls up to the signal.
