I love the detail in these pictures. In the first one there are lovely touches: the chaps at the front with their little table for tea and bun as well as their umbrellas and the chaps at the back tying sheaves with the string on a spool and one of them holding a pair of scissors!
In the second one, no ducks on the wall but three Toucans, each with a beer and even the stuffed pike has a glass of Guinness!

The best beer is served by gravity from a barrel on a stillage behind the bar. The Royal Oak in Cardiff comes to mind.

I do agree, there’s a pub in Bath that springs to mind, but a pint of Guinness can be most agreeable, as can the better European lagers.

Sadly, most of the uk keg stuff is fizzypiss.

An old mate was a guard at Norwich, working the Nch - Liverpool St. run.
Their supervisor at a weekly meeting in Jan 2013, asked them for suggestions on how they might locally commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Beeching.
My mate was the only one to put his hand up, but his suggestion was dismissed with a mere raising of eyebrows (naughty....):

"How abut we cancel all trains to/from Norwich Thorpe that day, get the steam crane into platform 3 and hold track-lifting demonstrations?"
