A really impressive design, did you manage to resolve the cylinder and motion bracket alignment? Looking at the latest image the only thing that jars slightly are the wheels. Is it me or do the spokes on the wheels look a little "weedy"? I realise that they aren't the beefiest of items but they do look a little thin to me.
Hi Adrian,

Yes, I sorted the cylinder/bracket alignment. It was due to the drawing I have being for the earlier compound prototype. It seems the drawing I do need may not exist, so I've extrapolated measurements from the smokebox arrangement drawings.
The wheels have been drawn from the works drawing so they should be correct, but they're not completed yet.

Hi Dave,

The boiler and firebox have had a minor tweak1665873107071.png

I've removed the fillet (curve) from the firebox front as it wasn't quite right.

Looking good. What is your final goal with these? Are they to become real world models as there is currently very little available for L&Y in 7mm.

Morning John,

The plan is to turn them into kits, although at the moment they are projects for myself. If there is interest from other modellers in having their own, then there is no reason why they can't be produced for sale. Currently the designs are for S7, but they be altered for Finescale relatively easily.

100% interested in anything L&Y - especially Scale7. I remember my Dad's first scratch built loco was a 2-4-2 radial tank and he had a half a dozen coaches from Barry Lane. So would dearly like a few L&Y loco's.

Adrian,

The plan is to produce the round top saturated A class, as I want a number of these myself, so additional etches and castings can be made of others who may be interested in having an example themselves. I have heard that someone(s) is working on the Belpaire version. At some point, I will also look at the superheated version as well. After the A class I will continue to work on the 0-8-0 Compound, then either the 0-8-2T or the 2-6-2T. Both types of 0-8-0 and the four types of 2-4-2T are already available from Lanky Kits, and I have a number of these already, but I will likely redesign the frames for S7.

The S7 versions will be designed to include working inside motion, whereas any Finescale ones won't, although parts could be modified to allow this feature.

At the moment, it's a case of doing this for myself, selfish I know, as I haven't looked fully into what I would need to do to produce kits for others, but it may be a case of having limited edition runs of each prototype.

I had hoped that Bachmann would produce the L&Y A Class 0-6-0 in 00. It was almost a standard class on the LMS appearing well off its own system. Like GWR Panniers, one can never have enough...!

I finally got around to doing the motion bracket for the 0-8-0 Compound, off the back of doing one for Richard Lambert for his small boiler Class 30 0-8-0 build.

The hole top centre may not be in quite the right place yet, as the operating rod for the starting valve should pass through it.
