Only a smal job today but another one ticked off, I’ve painted over two days and then fitted the internal tunnel mouth walls. I’ve done the opposite hidden side as well!

Day one on the wall is complete, I’ve been building up layers through out the day,
At Coryton Cove the top courses of blocks are sand stone whilst the lower are harder Dartmoor granite, Im also replicating this using various shades of reds, browns and terracotta’s. The lower half is varying shades of grey.
This will be sealed in the morning with clear varnish so more layers can be built up. In the end it will be sealed and flattened with a generous coat of Dullcote.
Now as with the method I use for painting bricks it can look rather crap as you go along but keep at it.

I find with stonework that you have to overdo the colouring and variation and then knock it all back with a light wash of yuck.

That’s what I do too, I’ll use a few washes that will tone it down

You get some funny looks before you knock it back though! Folk thinking you're colourblind.

That is exactly the sort of colouration I'm trying to achieve on some concrete structures I'm working on at the moment - how did you achieve it please? (With apologies to Steve for the thread hijack).

Answer to Dan's question is towards the bottom of pg18: 7mm - Pencarrow Bridge

The Ivy is from the Mininatur Range, the latest bushes are from Model Scene F571 the darker green bushes are from the Polak Range they are wild bushes summer green.

More progress on the wall today,
First darker dry brushing on the upper courses then sealed. A wash with thinned grey then a bluey grey dry brush over the lower half followed by white for salt staining! This will be sealed again later and a few more grey washes tomorrow

The tide has recently receded at Mermaid Cove!!
First layer of sand from Goodrington sands beach added. I’ll build this up in layers to form a shallow V, this will create a bowl for the water, I’m not sure whether to go for layers of gloss varnish or clear resin?
I’ve seen some great results with both.
