Severn Tunnel East May well be appearing at the Bristol O gauge show in a few weeks time,
I’ll confirm at a later date.
In the meantime I will be starting a new diorama based on the sea wall at Dawlish,
6 foot x 2 foot the same as Canton.

The rest of the polystyrene cut in today, well except the far ends on the beach level. 3 tubes of no nails later and it’s all stuck together. Track also arrived today.

Backing plaster added today, I’ve tried to replicate the diagonal fracture lines on the cliff face, still lots to do

Base layers of green completed, the static grasses will be built up with longer strands of more muted tones, Straw and light greens.
Just awaiting a delivery from Mininatur now plus flowering strips from eBay.

And I thought you were going to model the sea wall in this state .

No layout is complete without signals and as usual I’ve turned to Jon Fitness who has come up trumps yet again, I asked him to rust it up as it lives by the sea!

A delivery today from Mininatur and the static grass continues,
Tunnel mouth backing made up from Card, the inner walls will be clad with slaters plasticard,

Extra greenery on the cliff walls
Next job is to make a card backing plate for the opposite tunnel mouth, I can finish adding the plaster then.

Is it based on the one that used to be adjacent to the line on the Teighnmouth sea wall?
Excellent choice for location, and very convincing so far in its execution

Thanks, it’s not exactly based on that signal but they are very similar.

Current progress on the Sea Wall diorama, Most of the static grass is complete & the track is glued down.
Lots more scenics to add yet and the first items from Polak are on order.
Time to move the layout out of the kitchen and into the Railway room then it’s on with ballasting.

Ballast laid and the first pass of PVA added. I’ve finished adding the sand either side of the track through the tunnel once that’s dry I’ll add the rest of the ballast
The track was sprayed over last night with Rail match sleeper grime

I’ve drilled the hole out ready for the signal that I’m collecting tomorrow at the Bristol show, in the mean time I thought I’d pop the wooden post signal in from Severn Tunnel East Just to get a feel for it!!
Signals always make a layout.

Back home from Severn Tunnel East’s first show outing at the Bristol O gauge show. I collected the signal for the sea wall project from Jon Fitness as well.

High summer on the sea wall and as usual Trains are backing up at every signal waiting a platform at Newton Abbot!
