Today I’ve made a start on weathering the turn table well, I started off adding mortar to the brick courses then using some MIG washes around the concrete sections.

I was cursing fitting rail joiners to Peco ready to plonk bullhead until I saw these pictures, then I felt guilty

First bit of dirt down on Canton so only right to pose a Loco and I’ve chosen Canton resident 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe.
Early days yet but what I like about this project is that you can view the locos from 3 angles instead of the usual side on.

A pair of shed code plates laser cut by Intentio designs painted up today, these will be mounted on the legs that support the layout.

A little more on Canton, LED strip lights installed just awaiting the arrival of the junction boxes to wire them up, A pair of telegraph poles using butchered Duncan’s models bits and some lamps, Shed code plates fixed and to ease transportation I’ve cut out some holes to make carrying the layout easier and dressed these with some Britannia style grab hole surrounds! Very apt for Canton.

More weathering on the Greenwood Turntable today, still more to do around the ring rails but it’s getting there.
This project will be called Bury Houghton street Engine shed

Not the best picture but the junction boxes have arrived and the lights are working. I will add 6” strips of 6mm ply across the tops backed with foil to help concentrate the light downwards and to alleviate the glow above the layout, this will also help to support the fiddle yard area whilst transporting the layout and protect the lighting underneath.
The layout is packed away again now until the laser cut pits arrive and I’ll get it out in the garden and take some pictures in the dark to see how affective the strip lights are.
I’ve also ordered 6m of warm white LED strip lights that will go on the underside of the foil backed ply.
