There is a short piece on this loco, as seen at Telford, in the latest edition on the MRC Bulletin. The aim is to have one on Happisburgh Goods.

Over on the other side, Trains4u have said they're expecting their stock to arrive on Thursday!

Great news!

Allegedly they left Hong Kong by air on saturday and should have arrived at Heathrow yesterday, so long as it wasn't on the cargo plane that crashed at the weekend.
If they did arrive we might have them today but more likely tomorrow, so we should have them for Bristol on Sunday and Trains4u might have them for the weekend.

But Steve hasn't said he has them yet.

Steve hasn't said much at all.
When I worked for a major airline, we incurred delays which often were not our fault. Feedback suggested that passengers were not unduly upset by the delays, especially if outside the control of the airline, as long as the airline kept them informed. I am amongst those who have pre-ordered, but also prepaid for this model and I feel badly let down, not for the delay, but the lack of info. On another forum there is a lot of froth about a D48S but the Cl15 has yet to appear.
Don't think I'll be back again.

Personally I reckon Robert is being a bit harsh. As cottage industries it can be rather difficult to keep all the balls in the air. After all, none of us have Public Relations Depts. Even with the resources of the rail companies they consistently get it wrong. And as a frequent air traveller up to the time I retired so do the airlines.

I look forward to seeing L L Co at Bristol. I'm really impressed by the model and will be putting my hand in my pocket even though I'm a dyed in the wool kettle man. (As long as there are some of the really early versions still available). If not I'll wait until stock is available.

The D48S is probably not for me, although judging by the standard of what I've seen so far I could even be tempted......

I would have loved to have been able to give everyone far more information, but we just lost all faith in the Chinese factory being honest with us. As with many Chinese businesses, they were just telling us what we wanted to hear and not being honest with us on delivery times. It turns out they have been making the Dapol 08 and we have had to wait until they finished all those.

At least your getting one .....

Yes - but one thing I think you're forgetting - and so were the Monty Python team - is the amount of shere PAIN involved.

The simple fact of the matter is that nobody is really to blame here - what we are seeing is that the whole business of low-cost manufacturing in China is no longer as viable as it once was and - as living standards in the industrial coastal areas rise towards parity with the US - will probably never be so again.

As I've said before, one way to insulate ourselves from the downside of this situation is to order Chinese items only from dealers who don't require a deposit up front. Then just forget about them and carry on as if the items were never going to be available in the first place.

At some point in the future if, or when, the items turn up - it's a pleasant surprise and everybody's happy .... :)

I'm duly admonished.
I sit here anxiously waiting and nothing being said, I type a post and suddenly its all happening.
Put my remarks down to frustration and perhaps one too many red wines.

Don't worry, I can understand your frustration, I can assure you we have been just as frustrated, but finally it's all excitement, I can't wait for Sunday and chance to get hold of several of the finished models, and hopefully sell a big pile of them !
