@simond I've noticed there is a bit of a profile on the spokes but they are not rounded as I previously thought. In the attached picture I'm going to try engraving the spoke to give it a bit of this profile.

What I am able to do, is give the engrave area a gradient profile so that the middle of the spoke is engraved less than the edge. I'm hoping that this will give the appearance of the prototype.

For this to work well, I'll need to play around with the focus, and possibly increase the dpi. I'll also use plastic as this is easiest to grade engrave. Its possible with MDF and Card but is not as clean/smooth.

We shall see tomorrow...

hi Phil

thx, I see your idea. I may shamelessly copy!

the spikes are only 0.5-0.7 so I’m not convinced it’s worth it, but might make a difference

cheers
Simon

I assume John that you have the book LNWR Liveries which has a picture and a dimensioned drawing of your van . You have made a very nice job of it .
Kevin , I'm with you and would buy a kit of this van .

I am starting to do the scribbling on this . I couldn't do it as it is in the photographs of this , l have some 4mm transfer sheets so instead of London and North Western Railway I have just put on L&NW which Will have to do. I hope that this thread isn't too tedious. There is still some writing to do which I hope to do with a Rotring pen.Screenshot_2024-08-03-17-31-22-81_965bbf4d18d205f782c6b8409c5773a4.jpg

Hi, does anyone know if there are very small letter transfers so that I can letter this van so that it is similar to the drawing at the start of this thread.

Precision Labels will print if you can create a PDF . Good service.

Railtec may be the same , I have never used them.
