Its Tamiya Acrylic Aluminum. I used it on the cab windows as well, the black is Vallejo acrylic, on the whole I find Vallejo is better for hand painting as the Tamiya dries so quickly and the whole lot has had a wash with some Mig pigments. it all needs to be sealed then I will paint the control handles and add the final wash. its all a bit ott for the cab but it a non critical place to try a few techniques :laugh:

I think I shall be trying 10 thou copper sheet rather than plasticard as I can't get on with the plasticard method :headbang:

One end done using 10 thou copper for the headcode rubber - next step is to blacken it then fix it (at the moment its just an interference fit)
the shot also shows the cab window rubbers painted which I think makes a real difference...

Nice one Cynric - I like the idea of using copper for the rubbers. I think I'll do that next time. :thumbs:

As regards painting the windscreen rubbers, it seems I'd already done mine, though they're obviously not that noticeable yet. :oops: I'll give them another going over next time the paints are out. :)

Yes i like that too. This headcode work is well worth the effort. I shall be having a go with my next western :thumbs: . Nice one Cynric and thanks Dan for the idea and insperation to take loco's to that next level :thumbs:

The cab glazing was glued in last night, so fingers crossed I should be able to clean it up tonight and finish off the cab interior.
I was also a little distracted last night by some attempts at painting rust, I now have the right colours but the technique needs some practice!

no, they are a force fit and once in i used gun blue which way then rinsed quickly to neutralise. if anybody wants some copper give me a shout because my guillotine produces ideal offcuts for the rubbers in about a second :laugh:

Not a good day :headbang: :headbang: I dont know what happened, but the araldite must have expanded causing the glazing in the cab to crack the resin pillars :headbang: :headbang: the result has been a bit of a nightmare, 2 pieces of glass are broken and I have spent the evening removing araldite and applying super glue to hairline cracks in the resin..........
