Nice one - on the other side Brian Daniels did one, at this rate, your wagon and van builds will rival his in qaulity and quantity

I just love the 26's & 27's with the full kit, highland headlights & snowploughs. Reminds me of my spotting summers in Edinburgh & Inverness, with my parents in the late seventies / early eighties
Phill Dyson said:Yes there was still plenty of interesting stuff around Scotland then 8) 8) 8), I'm surprised more blue era modellers don't model north of the border, when you do start a layout will you be basing it on a particular area or line ?.......I notice you have posted pics of Kyle , which would make a really nice 7mm model
We used to go every year in spring when I was a lad.......here's one of the pics we took in Oban around 1975:

28ten said:I agree north of Scotland has some excellent possibilities. we used to go up on the sleeper to Inverness from Crewe, so i have some fond memories from the 76-78 period. We did Thurso in '76, Lairg in '77, and Kyle in '78. I even stood on the bridge in Kyle and drew the track plan Mind you, back in those days Crewe was buzzing with activity in the summer evenings.
Phill Dyson said:Sounds like a great idea & just the right time period IMO
40126 said:There was always a buzz, just as we approached Crewe from Derby. All the BLUE diesels on the stabling point, to the left. They were the days.........
