My Manning Wardle popped a pin out of its valve gear this morning. Over an hour was spent pinging the 1mm x 2mm thing all over the table. Somehow it evaded the carpet monster.

It was the shiny one on the centre axle boss. Working again now, but I really hope it doesn't happen again.Valve gear.jpg

Just caught up with your excellent thread. Your pinging valve gear pin episode was something I experienced with a Kato/Peco "Little England" - when running it in it shed both pins on the driving axle. I returned it to Peco who promptly fitted new larger pins and I had the loco back in a matter of days - excellent service. It seemed a known fault, hence the larger pins. The loco has worked perfectly ever since.
My admiration for your remarkable scratch building skills - something I can no longer manage, and it's all rtr and out of the box these days. I look forward to seeing more of your delightful layout as it progresses further.

Roger.

Roger.

My scratch building isn't what it used to be either. I did get new reading glasses to aid my poor old eyes for close work yesterday, but unless I can do the same for my arthritic hands I can't see things getting any better in the future.
