What do these etches represent? What vehicles might use these bogies?

Thank you for sharing with us. Regards, Graham

First two pictures are a Y25 bogie, used on a lot of freight wagons.

3, 4 & 5 are an LHB78 bogie as used on Cargowagons, Hooded Steel Carriers to mention but a few freight wagons

Simon I though the title should have read 'can you tell what it is yet' ( said in an Australian accent ALA Rolf Harris). I don't know where you get the patience from mate

Top stuff Simon! Will these be sprung like the real thing, or have that option? I can certainly think of a use or two for the Y25's

Yes Pugsley

Both sprung, I have all the springing for the LHB because it's leaf sprung so that is part of the etch. The Y25 I have to test build but I have all the spring sizes worked out from the original CAD and the company I will get them from sent me samples. I also have some masters to make up for the odd few castings that are in both and the destructions to write.

Destruction is easy... it is the construction for which I need help ;)

You need help! I am trying to remember where some of the parts go and I drew it!

Yes, spot on, Part 4 now resides at the bottom of an acid tank because someone forgot to tag it:headbang:

It's not the end of the world but I am kicking myself for missing it

Seeing as no-one else has asked yet, roughly how much will a pair of bogies be, and when will they be available, please?

OK - Test building the Y25

Start of the centre bolster

Then the hard part, the wrap around top and bottom. This was much easier in brass than when I mocked it up in card when I was testing the fit of the parts.

It's not quite as hard as it looks as it is guided top and bottom by the castlations around the top and bottom of the centre support

Available very soon, just got to sort out masters for the small numbers of parts that are cast and buy in the springs.
Target price (and don't hold me to this) is around £49

New That is a LOT of bits...!!

Don't forget Jordon that in the five pictures at the top of the post you are looking at two completly different bogies and there is a pair on each fret. There are also spares on each fret for some of the very small parts.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments, they mean a lot to me.

A lot of work went into producing these two bogies, especially the Y25 which I really wanted to be definative and as detailed as possible.

So far everything has gone together exactly as I planned and nothing has been particularly difficult to do with just the basic tools that every modeller will probably have. We shall find out how buildable it is as Phil (Brushtype4) has laid claim to the first production version.

I should say thank you to 28ten The Guv'nor as well for letting me out this on Western Thunder.

Keep watching as I have things to go on top of these two bogies that are at a very advanced stage and now I have proved to myself that I can do it and it works I am much more confident that other things I have designed will work out OK.

Thanks everyone
