Couldn't get them out for Telford, Body of the 3 hooded carrier is well adanced to the stage where I have printed quite a lot of it and done card mock ups so I think I can float your boat when it comes to carting steel around a layout.

I think you can indeed. I'll keep watching with interest. I don't suppose you have any prototype information or interest for that matter in doing this?

Now that is a pretty wagon, Having the actual dimension info is only half the story, it's always nice to be able to crawl all over a subject armed with a camera, something that is difficult with vehicles that are still in traffic as you can't just walk into your local rail freight terminal and expect to get away with it.

I have more than enough to go at for the moment but I will remember this little beauty

Go on tell, what will be available for Telford and where should the queue form?

I am not at Telford in an official capacity although I may slip along on one of the days as a punter just to say hello to a few friends.

They will be on my own website once they become available and you will probably get the heads up from here as well as one of Western Thunders members has laid claim to the first production version.

They are aren't they :D . I've been trying to get up close and personal with my camera and tape measure for a couple of years now but no luck at Cliffe so far. I keep trying though. If I manage to I'll let you know.

Who is going to ask about getting the brake rigging supports in the correct places for S7 wheels?

Already done!

I use a template on the CAD that is marked out for S7 and FS and if my calculations are correct it should work for either as there is a fair bit of positioning tolerance of the rigging so if you loose assemble it with test wheels in place you can push the linkages around quite a bit to get best fit.

I decided to have a go at one of the axle boxes as I am getting close to the stage where I shall need some test wheels in place to align the brake rigging.

The axle box cover will be a casting in the final version, the one shown here is the brass master.

Excuse the lump of wood sticking out the back, It's front heavy and I needed to balance it to shoot the photo.

Tha'ts a very neat looking pattern Simon. Is it all cut and filed by hand, or have you used etches or profile milling? (I can see that the bearing end cap is clearly turned).

It's not a pattern, only the end cap is a pattern and I stuck it on to give an impression of the complete unit.

It's all etch and was pretty easy to assemble as there are location lines and slots for everything. If you go back to picture 2 on page 1, in the bottom left corner you can just see some of the parts

I have some issues with the Y25 that I have to resolve so I thought I would test build the LHB 78 bogie.

This has gone together like a dream, nothing very fiddly, all just basic fold and solder. The pegs for the suspension were done by using a side as a template and drilling some 0.8mm holes in a piece of wood. I then inserted the pegs in the wood and placed the side on top and soldered them all in one operation.

Sorry for the crap depth of field in these shots, It's been one of those days here in Wales, poor light and near constant showers.

1st shot is the three major components that make up the main body, the centre bolster, the side frame which is multi layer etch and the wrap around frame.

2nd shot is the three items bought together and the second side frame. Also added the cross members at each end.
