I thought this year's Telford was one of the better ones I've visited. Heyside and The Summit being particular highlights. I also enjoyed the working crane on Yeoman's Quay.
Here are a few piccies.
and the new 'must have' wonder material is this
It is used as a pallet topping for paper products. It is incredibly rigid, very lightweight and the Yeovil chaps have used it as the substructure for the scenery on The Summit. I wouldn't mind getting hold of some myself for our next club project.
Talking to Neil Parkhouse, the 2nd volume of his Gloucestershire Railways in Colour series - The Forest of Dean is about to go to the printers and should be available next month (no doubt a certain purveyor of printed material in Bath will have a goodly stock in due course).
At club, I've been bashing a 4mm Heljan 14 and now I want one in 7mm too - even to the extent of reviewing in full Jordan's old build of a PRMRP 14 over at the other place. I concluded it wasn't too bad and was considering a purchase but by chance asked at the JPL stall whatever became of the class 14 kit they had on their stand a few years ago. I was told that it became the basis of DJH's cast effort (hmmm, no thanks) but apparently the etched brass version of the kit maybe making an appearance in the not too distant future.... I'm in no rush so we'll see what happens.
I admired the Dapol Terrier, the Minerva Peckett and Lionheart's Tank wagons. I'm sure they'll all be very popular. Though talking to Richard Webster, the advance orders on the tanks are heavily biased toward the 'Shell-BP' and 'Esso' versions.
It was good to see a number of new developments at JLTRT too - SR Vans, Class 47, Derby Lightweight DMU (and there was other stuff I can't remember).
I've come away motivated to get stuff done this modelling season so it must have been a good show...
