Some last minute mods in the living room before it got packed in the car were in order basically I had made a mistake in assuming the cbus boards
Can I ask what the adjustable stands are that you used for the layout? Meant to ask at Stannington and then forgot...

They look like Wickes/B & Q Trestles, they are sometimes available in Aldi/Lidl middle aisle.

Yes, the Wickes-branded generic adjustable steel trestle (bench).
Can't see them currently listed at Wickes, but here currently is a really good price for the same units from a supplier I can recommend:
I found the Draper branded ones at just a little more - which I believe are a little better in some areas.
Even so I improved them by substituting heavier nuts/bolts and re-engineering the drop locking bar pins for the uprights (replacement bolt with a collar of nylon tube).

Yep that's what they are. They provide various functions at home some of which are layout related but surprisingly we do actually use them for our house renovation.

Progress in devaluation of the diag 55 continues starting with the addition of the W irons mounting plate.

Whilst the araldite was out I also assembled another wagon kit I'm reducing the value of, namely a D&S kit for a diagram 68 3 plank open

As I said more rolling stock is needed so more rolling stock is being built...

Ok so not railways but it's my workbench so my rules!

With workshop wise out of the way I'm now able to spend some time on other projects

These are the remains of my teenage bass guitar. The first instrument I ever owned and one that served me well in a series of heavy metal bands followed by the polar opposite of a church band. During its metal years it acquired a selection of genre appropriate graffiti which had to be hastily covered up by some to the cheesy engraving as seen here. A hard life however meant that bits of it started falling apart until it was replaced in front line service by the fretless bass seen in the background.

Fast forward to the present and I'm playing instruments and unusual guitars derived from the mandolin family in a world fusion jazz funk outfit. So having 2 bass guitars is excessive so I've taken the decision to convert this old friend into a five string instrument inspired by the cittern.

So a lot of standing pads later and the body has been transformed. I've kept the signature red around the outsides but returned the front and back to natural wood and I'm very happy with the outcome. Next job is a new neck.

Normal service may be resumed next time.... Or it may not....

Will be using my Gibson short scale SG bass at our gig tomorrow night. I've generally been using a Fender Jazz for the past year or two. Both four string.
Happy modelling and music making.
Dave.
