On the theme of brake vans does anyone know if the GN eight wheel brake van is still on the NYMR ? It stood in the head shunt at Grosmont for years but I can't find anything on the tinternet to suggest its still there ? I would like to photograph it for a future project,

I belive it's still on the railway, had a look for it yesterday but struggled to find it, I did see somthing that may have been it, on a isolated bit of track at Goathland, if that's it, it now only has 4 wheels, if I get time today I'll investigate.

A4 Tender brakes 001.jpg Hi Mick

You have opened a can of worms, the wagon at Goathland is NER brake van 58033 which is used as a store, which then raises the question as to what is the one that mushroom is living in at Grosmont, I'll have to ask him. And that still leaves the GNR brake van as missing.

A huge can of worms has been openned mate. The only photo I've managed to find is here, the van at the NYMR in happier times... http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/lnerbrake/h3f0e4e29
I could kick myself as it was there for years and could have wandered up after a cleaning turn and cralled all over it !! Good look with the hunt mate and thanks for the other photo, much appreciated as always,

Thanks for the link MTH, I looked on the same site and the GN van states at October last year the van was under restoration which is great news. JP, do you have a number for the wagon shop at Pickering as I could ring and see if it's there? Maybe they'll have a drawing? It would be great to get some pictures of it in bits.....
