I would prefer a few clay wagons with blocks sitting on the 1366.

A BWT would look even better.

I'm actually using the 1366 to prop up a wobbly leg on one the trestles.

Yes, the old derelict B&W buildings finish the scene in the left hand background compared to the original plan of the grassy knoll envisaged in the very early postings. They stop the eyes from disappearing into the left hand corner.

Yes, I'm pleased with the way it's coming together. Funny how it's taken 100s of hours to get so far and then a quick sprinkling of green stuff and ballast makes a huge difference.

The two wharf buildings do finish off the scene nicely. Really glad I decided to depart from reality in that corner. There was also a building of similar age at Wadebridge, demolished when the station expanded, that I'd like to make.

Now, where can I stick it...no rude answers please.

Having done some heavy pruning* and lawn control this morning, I'm in the mood to make up some platform faces.

There's about 7'to do, two board joints to disguise and 4 brick insets to do (accommodate the rodding cranks).

Should be fun.


* having just sat down and lent on the table I've discovered a load of thorns in my arm... Nice.

I used the standard clearance dimensions in Gordon Gravett's 7mm modelling pt2 book (see below) to draw up my own profile with the baseboard top as a datum.


I then had a trawl through books to find a nice clear shot of the platform face. Found one in BR Past and Present no17 and projected the different courses on to the clearance drawing. The slabs and the top 2 stone layers all work out about 6" thick each.

And then made a plastic template to try out on the baseboard...
