Well I’m almost there, the loco still needs the backhead fitted, and a bit more weathering including the coupling rods, etc. DCC has now been fitted and she runs nice and smooth… So next job will be back to Church Norton and create some more scenic work.

If there’s any interest I will try and attempt a short movie clip of the loco running.

Quite a bit of attention needed to that joint, the right hand chair needs the key driving in from the other side to allow space for the fishplates. Then some jacking and packing.

I’m afraid that will not be happening, that gap is at a baseboard join, so all I have to do is adjust the legs on the baseboards. There is no visible gap in the platforms because they are in one piece and are screwed down, but removable. Gaps in platforms are a pet hate of mine..:D

Such is life as a railway modeller, nothing we can do about baseboard joints .

I agree they are a pain, and it has always been a problem. A good friend of mine gave me a tip years ago, and that was to leave the ballast loose around the gaps at the baseboard joints. And this suits me fine as it’s a semi permanent layout, maybe a bit more of a nuisance if it’s an exhibition layout. My friend uses a small portable hoover and hoovers up the loose and sprinkles it back in place once the layouts in place at the exhibition.

Loco looks to be running really well and the layout is looking superb
Cheers Steve, yes I’m very happy with the loco, as you know I’ve always wanted one and western region heavy freight locos are my favourite . You must be getting yours soon, that will look nice on Canton..
