Stunning work as always Larry, It may not surprise you to know that I am starting a new BR/WR BLT Layout Based loosely on the Bodmin General Track Plan, as its near where my parents lived, but with a bit of a Harbour so need to move it down onto the River Camel, and in the same vein as Pencarne, Porth Merryn, Trebudoc, and Bala Town, but in 4mm. I want a pretty Station with flower beds and oldy world charm.
I may need to put it on here as R M Web is almost un useable at the moment.
Keep up the good work and inspirational pics.
All the best,
Andy.

Hi Andy, thank you for the compliments and I am sorry I hadn't seen your post unitl this morning. Going off colour photos of it in steam days, Bodmin General looks really neat and interesting. I hope you do post on WT whether the other place is usable or not. I constructed buildings last summer to keep my mind occupied while the shed where the track seemed very depressing. So at the moment I am still modelling in the house with the result that I now have far more coaches than I will ever need haha.

Good luck,
Larry

The Dapol Large Prairie has been renumbered 5186 as an 84K Chester based engine. Weathering has been restricted to the wheels and areas where throw-up from the rails will tint parts with rust colour even in the first week in traffic. The tanks were given a light blow over with clear gloss cellulose using the small spraygun. Some tracks has been repainted with PPC 'rusty' rails'....

It's been a good day for dismantling the small spraygun and giving everything a good clean up. A bright sunlight shot...

I don't know if its any help Larry, but years ago I made up some fine wire hooks to drop over the Buffers for when I wanted to attach to Stock. They were just dropped on with a pair of tweezers and removed when not required or for photos. I made a small jig with a block of wood and 4 nails, one size fits all.Coupling.png

Thanks Andy. I used wire for coupling up and preventing buffer-lock in the early 1960's and have something similar in mind ~ eventually. But I gotta layout to complete first...:D

The WB is stagnating while I wait for coach roofs.

At last, I can justify a post about 'layout progress'. The back siding was removed and the baseboard sanded down to take a new siding a bigger distance from the running line to accommodate the goods shed. The point remains because it was simpler to curve the track. It has been sprayed 'Sleeper grime' and will be glued & ballasted when dry...

Tape was stuck down to limit the ballast spread because a platform and cattle dock will be built there...
WEB Goods track 2.jpg

Thats it. Neat PVA spread, track dropped onto it and connected to the point. Ballast poured on, spread and tamped then a length of 3" x 1" laid on the track plus some heavy books. A slot was left in the ballast for the goods shed wall...
WEB Goods track 3.jpg

The siding runs off the turnout in a straight course and only curves as it enters the goods shed. It will be easier making a straight platform. The 'third' siding has had to become the carriage siding to hold day excursions and so has been lengthened. The newly laid track will be sprayed to match existing track. I lay new ballast and then weather it afterwards...

Progress of a sorts now I'm back after Big-80 celebrations. The track alterations were spray-weathered to as near as possible pre existing track, although the clean ballasted stub nearest the camera represent recently attended to track. The different lengths will make sense one day hahah...

Track into repositioned goods shed also weathered...

I suppose it will be platforms construction from now on.
