My era of interest is the nationalisation period between 1947 and 63 a relatively broad bandwidth. This probably has a lot to do with being a trainspotter within this period. My chosen dates are 1956-57 pre mainline diesel.

I'm hoping that Laser Craft are going to do the signal box and water tower but

Sorry for the delayed reply, I had an interesting day on the West Somerset Railways tidy train yesterday. Steam hauled, Somerset and Dorset 7F, producing spectacular atmospheric effects on a cold and sunny day, with a brake van ride included. Brings a lump to the steam mans throat.

Should I proceed I will start a thread. In the meantime please use the track plan and amend it to your requirements.

If I can help out with Templot work please don't hesitate to ask.

I've had a play around just with a pencil

With regards to saving space I would have to replace the two double slips under the bridge with a left hand point and next to it an offset 3 way point.
I will be having the down main and empty coaching stock road in the front just so I can shunt parcel vans and may be have a DMU back and forth.
I will add a sliding traverser in from of the stores building.
If you wanted to have a play around with it on templot I would be great full. I could do a closer sketched plan to show what I mean.
I'm hoping to use hand built C&L points but may have to use a Peco double slip as I don't fancy building one of them.

Edited, I will not need the two Peco points listed on the bottom, 3 link will be pleased about that!!

A quick sketch for you, is it any good?
You can see where I've left out two double slips and changed them to a standard left hand and an off set 3 way point, this will give me a bit extra in the way of cassette storage and allow me space to add in the junction to the up Main from the parcel platform.

Very interesting times jan feb 56, when the kings where temporarily withdrawn with cracked bogies and two stanier princesses and duchesses where drafted in.

Hi Steve,

The revised layout is in the attached file. The vertical line on the left hand side running through the stores building represents the edge of your proposed layout. That is 1'-6" less than the original length, and would therefore put the edge of Ranelagh Bridge at approximately 12'-6" distant.

If this version is O.K. I will shift the plan to the left and modify the positions of items outlined in red.

Thanks that is superb, the maximum overall length for the layout would be 13foot. From the start of the first point. That's not including around three foot for the cassette area.

It's been a while since I've posted anything on canton so here's one from a few weeks ago when I had a green western on shed,
I'm hoping to get one or two bits to finish it off at Reading.

How difficult would it be to replace them with Slaters?
