This shows how I would like to add a sliding traverser at the bottom end of the layout mainly to stable parcels stock and rail cars.

And back to Canton, the signal for the layout is progressing well. May be Jon can upload a few pictures on this thread.

Hi Steve,
The signal is 90% finished, just the ring on the left arm to fix (the one on the right is missing as per photos!). The signal is constructed from a modified Scale Signal Supply kit with later pressed steel arms from MSE.

Staging planks are from 0.8mm ply and yes...the whole thing will be weathered to tone down the somewhat garish paint job...
Cheers

With your modelling skills Steve I think it's about time you built yourself a LARGE layout room ;), and looking at your shopping list please forget the Peco turnouts and go for some C & L kits they look so much better.

ATB,

Martyn.

P.S. Ask Paul I know he will agree with me with reference to C & L, and we know how much you like your pipework and rivets :D.

Hi Martyn
I'm hoping to use C&L points on Ranelagh not sure about double and single slips though, I thought I would use Peco for them. I've never built track before. Having said that Ranelagh is my life time project so I'm in no rush. THe room is under going conversion I'm hoping to have it fully enclosed by Christmas.
I'm thinking about using two marcway 3 way points to save space, these will be partly covered by the bridge and then using C&L chairs filed then cut in half and glued to the sides of the rails to improve there appearance.
Long way until I get there mind.

I've actually done a bit on the railway room this week. I've started to clad one wall in tongue and groove and I should have some more glass next week.
Looking forward to Telford now and the heljan westerns by the end of September.

The 'visiting diesels' look good - it occurred to me that most models of Green diesels I see seem to be weathered to within an inch of their lives... I don't know if it's intentional or not, but seeing bright, clean 'new' diesels here really gives a good contrast to the soot and grime that came with Steam, especially in it's dying days.

Just a small update to say that the Dedicated railway room now has glass and is fully clad. Door next on the list and guttering.
Insulation, new floor & cieling over the winter months.
