Dave's Industrial Steam (and diesel) Gallery

Good Afternoon, everyone...

Just saying hello as I haven't visited this forum for a long time. I spent around a year without doing any railway modelling, being busy with building WW1 aircraft models instead. I took up the saw, hammer and screwdriver again early this year to build another railway to replace Bury, Thorn & Sons Ltd. which I had sold late last year.

The new one, which is still a work in progress, is Royd Hall Drift - a fictitious National Coal Board drift mine set in the Barnsley area in the 1960s.

Very nice indeed, the Beyer/Brush is especially natty, an extremely good looking prototype I think.

WW1 aircraft? Oh of course you don't have to bother with hang-on-a-minute-Jordan's-got-a-point scenery behind them either. More...

Just found you on this forum, Dave.
Funny what enforced rest with a beggared knee can do!!!
The early stuff from BT&Son is stupendous! The WW1 aviation stuff is just as good!!
Sopwith Pups?
Chris.
The ones in the top photo are Pups - Airfix kits and a more modern one that I cannot remember the make of. The second one is an R.E.8, much modified from the 1957-vintage Airfix kit. The third one is a scratchbuilt F.E2d. All 1/72 scale

Here are some photos of my Handley Page O/400, built from another ancient Airfix kit.

Hmmm I must've missed this first time around - no idea what it means, but I agree WW1 Aircraft photos fine by me
What I do find more disturbing on this thread is - yet again the subtle inclusion of 'real' photos amongst those of models - the first one of the Handley Page 0/400 is just NOT an Airfix model..!!
;) :) :D

'A Bloody Pulveriser of an Aeroplane!' I think it was called.
Is your rigging fishing line or something else?

Ah, yes, Boulton's second Hercules. It was when I was scratchbuilding my model and none of the photos showed the front, so I had to guess what the smokebox door arrangement was. I had seen this photo but it was reproduced in a book and the front of Hercules was almost black, as if in shadow, and so I still couldn't tell. I have seen the above photo since finishing the model and, typically, the smokebox door isn't how I modelled it!
