Will do Mike.

Roger has built a couple of really nice locos for Heyside. His Patriot is the only green steam engine, so will have pride of place on the semi-fast, and he has a full set of the 2-6-4s. Not bad for a Southern man. He will be on the SVR stand at Telford, so you will probably be able to see the locos there.

Cheers

Richard

Hi

Apologies for dotting around, but I'm trying to keep ahead of everyone else.

I've been preparing some L&Y stop blocks. I persuaded Andy Beaton to master them for me, and they are now in his range. Apart from his proving one, these are the first built. The kit only builds the 3 rail one, but with a little bit of work you can produce blocks with the middle rail missing or with a wooden baulk. There are other variations too, but more scratchbuilding is needed, and time is my enemy at the moment. Still, better than Peco!

No, the whole side with rails cast in is in whitemetal; one piece. It seems sturdy enough when built.

They really do look nice Richard  . Out of curiosity what type of rail have you used on the new trackwork on Heyside, Steel or N/S ??

Hi Mick

Most of the replacement track was pointwork, and I used the C&L HiNi nickel silver rail in its construction. Where I had to replace plain track, I used Peco to match the exisisting plain track that was retained. If I had started from scratch, I would have gone for the C&L plain track.

Yours

Hi

With 18 days before Manchester, I am in full panic mode, working long hours on Heyside. Little time really to take pics, but I had to share this with you.

It's not as though we lack height on Heyside, but one throw away comment led to another, and this mill chimney is taking shape courtesy of Allan.  Or is it a coal fired Saturn 5 booster? Whatever, if we can get it finished, it will be great!

I reckon that chimney comes from "Eddystone Mill", a well known Lancashire landmark.....

A splendid erection by anyone's standards.

You'll need some 'high relief' at this rate..

No chance to build the sprung bogies yet then  ;)

Hi

Well, a huge effort has seen stacks done over the last couple of weeks. Still a lot unfinished, but, hey ho, you can't do everything.

Heyside is on the van, and for those of you who know where I am, getting the van round was tight, as I knew it would be.

The main frames on and filled up

Blimey   that board is huuuuge
Although it fills the van, at least half the volume is fresh air  :))
Good luck for the show, im sure everything will be ok after all the planning and hard work. As I said if the 105 fails push it about with a tank engine  8)

Wow, that is some serious effort on all fronts.

Hope you have a great time with the layout at Manchester. I am sure it will be greatly appreciated and I look forward to seeing more of it here in due course!
