The prototype has a ladder to the left of the gantry (just visible) and there looks to be a bit of ironwork fixed to the wall in Richard's shot of the model so I guess that the prototype will be followed.

A mile stone has been reached Richard, very very nice indeed. What are you plans after these, will the gas lamp be installed on the bridge ? Love the prototype photo as well, shame you can't recreate the smog for Heyside : thumbs

ATB Mick

Thanks Mick. I do intend to put a gas lamp on the bridge, it will finish it off nicely. In my idle moments, I do toy with the idea of putting a smoke unit in the factory chimney. The trouble is white wisps won't cut it, we need black clag, and I can't imagine exhibition managers will be too impressed (let alone Lady D)

Spot on. I can't fit the ladder until after the bridge has been painted and installed - the cranks go under the turned-over tops to the stiles. Mind you, I've still got 2 ladders to build. Can I have a few 36 hour days please?

Hi

A bit of R&R this evening playing trains. New to the layout, and far too clean is a WD 2-8-0. This was in the box that Roger was spied walking out with at Kettering. A posed shot of 2 heavy freight locos in the yard......

We also had the first Dinghammed (?) loco to play with - my L&Y saddle tank. It was great fun shunting using auto couplers, but we do need to practice, and may need to add a couple more magnets to facilitate shunting moves.

Finally - and totally out of period - Andy Beaton brought along a newly-completed inspection saloon. Blue and grey, so we had nothing to pull it, but lowered the tone by finding an Austin 7 to do the honours.:)

A very nice build.

Hi Mick

Sort of is the answer. The footbridge is a kit - designed by myself and Cynric, drawn by Cynric, but not commercially available. 3 were produced specifically for Heyside. The signal components come from Scale Signal Supplies, and then it's a case of scratchbuilding the bits and bobs to marry them up.

Richard
Richard, I seem to recall having this conversation before LOL, apologies for the seriously deficient memory, it was primarily the bridge I was interested in, very intricate and accurate etching there. Thanks for the signal link, they look the part to me.

Hi Tim

I still think that is one of the most gorgeous photos I have ever seen. I probably say that every time I see it:)

Now, which should I do in blue..... DJH W1, Finney A4, Piercy A4........ Choices, choices.

That is a truly awe inspiring photograph, wouldn't it look amazing blown up and put on to a billboard:eek:

Photo taken at Kidderminster possibly?

A truly arresting image and superb bit of photography wherever it is, I love the pin sharp and beautifully lit locomotive and track contrasting with the blurred background, and then there are the reflections on the casing - genius:bowdown:
